WA chefs cook up a storm for Starlight’s 30th anniversary dinner

Perth’s hospitality scene turned out in force on Thursday, 11 September, as some of the state’s best-known chefs joined forces for the Starlight Five Chefs Dinner. The landmark event, held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, celebrated its 30th anniversary with a sold-out crowd and raised more than $900,000 to support children living with serious illness and their families.

Guests were treated to a five-course degustation menu with matching wines, each dish showcasing the skill and creativity of WA’s leading chefs. On the menu:

Gino Pannuzio (Millbrook Winery): Kingfish crudo with shallot plums, ginger relish and citrus soy.

Ben Jacon (Masseria): Octopus with sardella, orange, shallot, radish and dill.

Jake Lynch & Charlie Vargas (QT Perth/The Embassy): Slow-cooked Cranbrook lamb shoulder with sunchoke, saltbush and lamb sauce.

Nic Wood (QT Perth): Braised Donnybrook pink beef brisket with mustard, roasted beetroot, spring leaves and jus.

Jeya Kumar Jeybalen (PCEC): Vanilla mascarpone white chocolate dome with mango, lychee, coconut, and sable crunch.

More than 410 guests filled the room, including leaders from hospitality, business and philanthropy, with support from sponsors Aigle Royal Group, Virgin Australia, Vittoria and Print Media Group.

On the night alone, 56 Starlight Wishes were granted, offering life-changing experiences to children living with serious illness.

Starlight CEO Louise Baxter said the community’s generosity plays a crucial role.

“Thank you to our national sponsors, generous donors, and the talented chefs who gave their time and skill to make this a wonderful night to remember. Funds raised will help give happiness to sick kids and their families when they need it most,” she said.
