A sibling for Rick Shores

The team behind Rick Shores, which was voted Queensland’s Best Eatery in the Del.100, is expanding.

Rick Shores has dominated the Gold Coast dining space for some time.

But now the people who set it up are looking to expand into Brisbane.

This has seen co-owners David Flynn, Frank Li, Nick Woodward and Andrew Hohns launching what could only be described as sibling venue for Rick Shores.

It is a Chinese-inspired eatery in the capital’s Fortitude Valley, so it’s not quite a twin. But it’s pretty close.

The new venue will be called Little Valley.

It’s actually going to be a dining hall designed in a neo-Chinese style.

It will seat 70 people.

It will also feature a function space and Píjiǔ garden

And in addition to that, Little Valley will have an open-aired bar, serving Chinese themed cocktails like Chinese Slipper (Martell Vs, Luxuardo, Applewood Limoncell, and Midori) and the Beijing Sling (Beefeater Gin, House Cherry Vermouth, house spice, pineapple and citrus).

And while it’s Chinese, the plan is to have something that has a modern take on all those traditional dishes.

It’s a perfect fit for the area which is known as the place for Brisbane’s China Town.

Little Valley will be different from any other Chinese restaurants in the neighbourhood.

It will be exploring and presenting dishes from a range of the different provinces in China.

The team has put together that says it all in one statement: “From Guangdong to Shandong, Hunan to Yunnan, there are influences drawn from all over this diverse country with dishes that suit our south-east Queensland lifestyle at the fore.”

Former Rick Shores head chef Jake Pregnell will be heading up the kitchen.

And the dishes on offer will include various delicacies like Potato and Truffle Spring Rolls, and mains that range from a half twice-cooked duck, paired with fermented plum to a salad of miso poached chicken, black fungus, chicken skin dressing.
