Jamberoo Pub flies flag at AHA Awards

JAMBEROO Pub has been named as finalist in a number of categories for the upcoming Australian Hotel Association (AHA) NSW Awards for Excellence.
The pub is the only Kiama establishment among the finalists and is in the running for an award in three categories; Best Casual Dining Country (South), Best Traditional Hotel Bar and Best Individual Hotel Operator of the Year.
Having been finalists in the awards for a number of years, licensee Erica Warren said she hoped this was the year the pub could breakthrough for an award.
“The last few years we’ve been finalists in a few categories over the last four or five years and we’ve won a few tourism awards and hopefully this year we can get an AHA award,” Ms Warren said.
While the pub is yet to win an AHA NSW award, Ms Warren said continually being nominated showed the pub was doing something right.
“For the awards you have to enter and then anonymous judges are sent around to each site, it’s good to know that we’ve got the staff here that are doing the right thing by our customers,” she said.
“I think we’ve got the mix of things right, we’ve got good, attentive staff, a good atmosphere and people are starting to recognise that and know that the pub is a place where they can come and enjoy themselves.”
The winners of the AHA NSW Awards for Excellence will be announced on Monday, November 24.
