MasterChef Australia’s Matt Sinclair brings Sum Yung Guys to Perth
MasterChef Australia season eight runner-up Matt Sinclair has opened his Sunshine Coast restaurant Sum Yung Guys in Perth for a six-week pop-up.
The restaurant has taken over the former Bistro Guillaume space at Crown Perth, serving Sum Yung Guys’ south-east Asian dishes during its limited spring residency.
The opening menu includes Shark Bay prawn toast, WA scallops, ‘Crying Tiger’ short rib, and Southern Thai yellow curry.
Guests at the opening included Chaise and Murray McHenry, Saigon Story’s Jenny Lam, and Emily Taylor and Rob Cole, according to PerthNow.
Sinclair finished as runner-up on MasterChef Australia season eight in 2016.
Following the show, he launched Sum Yung Guys, which later earned a Chef’s Hat, as well as the 10-Piece Cutlery food truck at Brisbane’s Eat Street Markets.
