Three venues owned by prominent Perth hospitality figure John Parker have entered voluntary administration as part of a restructuring process, though all sites will continue trading under normal operations.
The Royal Hotel in Perth's CBD, Ciao Dandy at Karrinyup Shopping Centre and Busselton Pavilion in WA's South West are covered by the move, with insolvency specialists Rodgers Reidy appointed as administrators.
Parker, majority shareholder of the venues, said the decision followed a consolidation of ownership. "Following a recent consolidation of ownership, I have made the decision to appoint an administrator to assist with restructuring the businesses and setting up the venues for a stronger future," he said in a statement.
Parker was keen to reassure staff and customers the venues would carry on as normal. "It's business as usual at the venues — same team, same offering and same focus on customers.
"Looking forward to many more years of trade."
Whether creditors of the three venues will be paid in full remains unclear.
The three venues were previously held under a holding company registered to John and Jessica Parker, which ASIC records show was dissolved earlier this year, with majority ownership now sitting solely with Mr Parker. He also owns The Standard in Northbridge and Willi's Pizza Bar within The Royal, operating all venues under his Parker Group brand.
The Royal Hotel is a heritage building dating to 1882 on the corner of William and Wellington Streets and is Parker Group's flagship venue. Parker closed Fleur, a fine-dining European bistro within The Royal, in April. Parker Group took over the venue in 2019 and completed a $13 million joint restoration with property owner Charter Hall. Parker was named the state's best venue operator at the 2022 WA Bar Awards.
