Little Sister opens in Glen Waverley

Lots of new food developments in the Melbourne suburb of Glen Waverley

Last month we saw Workshop Brothers opening last month serving Hong Kong egg waffles. And plans are underway for White Mojo to launch a third store on Kingsway.

Enter Little Sister, replacing Richmond Oysters, located at 89 Kingsway. That’s the new name for Richmond Oysters.

Richmond Oysters group executive chef Antony Henare says Little Sister is nothing like Richmond Oysters. It might be part of the same family, he says, but it will be a completely different world.

"The menu starts at $6 and the highest priced dish is $28, so we can really get a lot of food and a lot flavours in front of people," Henare told Good Food.

He has brought in mod-Asian master Kam McManamey formerly from Dandelion, Rock Sugar, Botherambo and Bangpop) and Kevin Nguyen (ex-Jardin Tan).

So the focus will be on Vietnamese and Thai food.

And the offering will be distinctively from that part of the world.

People dining at Little Sister will be able to get into crispy lattice spring rolls stuffed with tofu, black fungus, mountain pepper, kaffir lime and nuoc cham.

That’s food from Vietnam,

For those wanting something from Thailand, there’s crisp skinned pork hock sticky with tamarind chilli leans, snake bean and thai basil along with nam jim, thai style dipping sauce.

Little Sister also offers bao, pho and curries with a Supernormal-esque peanut butter parfait and pretty and textural Asian-inspired desserts to finish.

The restaurant is located in a two-storey, 130-seat venue,

It’s had a bit of a refurbishment too so as to ensure its difference from Richmond Oysters with homely cushions and wok skimmers on the walls.

And upstairs, there’s a cocktail bar mixing drinks with names like firecracker.

Little Sister is open from 11.30am to 10pm.
