Colin Fassnidge cocaine case mentioned in court

Celebrity chef and My Kitchen Rules judge Colin Fassnidge has had his case mentioned in court for the first time since being charged over allegations he drove with cocaine in his system in Sydney’s southeast.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command police arrested Fassnidge just after 3pm on November 8 during random drug and alcohol testing on Malabar Rd at Maroubra.

The 52-year-old Malabar man was charged with driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in his blood after returning positive results from two drug tests when he was stopped in his grey ute along the busy stretch of road.

Fassnidge did not appear in person at Waverley Court, sitting at John Maddison Tower in Sydney’s CBD, on Wednesday.

The matter was adjourned to March 4, when Fassnidge will be required to enter a plea.

Fassnidge is best known to Australian audiences through My Kitchen Rules, and has also appeared on Better Homes and Gardens and Kitchen Nightmares Australia, as well as serving as an Australian Pork ambassador.

In hospitality, Fassnidge has built a long-running profile as both a chef and television personality, with his media roles helping lift his recognition beyond the kitchen. His court date now places that public profile under renewed scrutiny, with the charge set to proceed through the local court process in coming weeks. Police allege the incident occurred during routine roadside testing, which continues to be used across metropolitan Sydney as part of broader enforcement aimed at drug and drink driving. The case will next return for mention in early March, ahead of any hearing dates being set.
