Brisbane’s best pizza review: Elio’s Osteria Italian restaurant in Carina Heights

THE search for the southern suburbs’ best pizza is on and the first nominee from readers is Carina Heights Italian restaurant Elio’s Osteria.

Owner Paul Campbell bought the Winstanley St restaurant in 1999, but Elios’ history in the suburb extends back to 1986.

A handful of hungry customers were already waiting for their orders just after 5.30pm.

I tried a supreme and in a nutshell, Elio’s delivers everything you want in a slice.

The toppings were the highlight. Plenty of olives, capsicum and salami — pretty much your classic supreme flavours.

The mozzarella cheese was also plentiful, but didn’t smother the flavour of the other ingredients.

The sauce was tasty and added to the flavours of the topping.

The pizza was cooked well and provided a hearty meal.

It is the type of pizza I could see myself eating while watching the footy on a Friday night.

I can see why Elio’s has built a loyal following. I’m sure their pizzas have become a family favourite in many households over the years.
