QUEENSLAND builder Watpac has been awarded the $78 million contract to build two new hotels and a conference centre at Brisbane Airport.

Flynn Property Group and Scott Flynn Properties said the $150m development — the airport’s biggest external venture — would begin site works and early construction by May.

A five-star Pullmam Hotel will deliver 130 five-star rooms and 10 junior suites, and the 3.5-star Ibis will have 243 rooms.

Designed by Noel Robinson, the development in the domestic terminal precinct will also include 1735sq m of conference and meeting space.

Watpac managing director Martin Monro said the project would shape the gateway to Brisbane. “This project is a great addition to our workbook and will draw upon Watpac’s national experience in delivering luxury, high-quality hotel developments,” he said.
