Peppers Clear Mountain reopens as Queensland's first five-star regional hotel

Mandala Hotels & Resorts has finished a multi-million-dollar redevelopment of the former Mercure Clear Mountain, relaunching the hinterland property as Peppers Clear Mountain and giving the City of Moreton Bay its first five-star hotel.

The 51-room retreat sits on 20 hectares of bushland overlooking the Glass House Mountains, within easy reach of Brisbane's CBD and airport. The refurbishment covered guest rooms, dining and event spaces, and the surrounding grounds, and was delivered in partnership with hospitality design and construction firm Dezign. The property now operates under Accor's Peppers brand, giving it access to the group's ALL.com distribution platform and ALL loyalty programme, alongside other Peppers properties across Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia.

All 51 rooms have been refreshed with new interiors and finishes. The redevelopment also introduced The Glasshouse Restaurant, featuring a fireplace, banquette seating and two private dining rooms, one with its own balcony, along with a new menu drawing on produce from an on-site Chef's Garden. Event spaces now accommodate up to 150 guests for conferences, weddings and corporate functions, supported by a dedicated billiard room and gym. Outdoor upgrades include new pool decking and glass balustrades, a fountain on Serenity Lawn, and improved walkways linking the Pavilion and vineyard areas. A new porte-cochère and updated reception and foyer areas complete the arrival experience.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery told The Hotel Conversation the opening reflected the region's growing profile as a leisure and business destination, saying: "Peppers Clear Mountain is the first 5-star hotel in City of Moreton Bay, a testament to our ever-growing appeal as a leisure and business destination."

Adrian Williams, Chief Operating Officer of Accor in the Pacific region added, "The transformation of Peppers Clear Mountain marks an exciting milestone for Mandala Hotels and Resorts, Accor, and the entire Moreton Bay community. By elevating this iconic property into the region's only five-star hotel, we aren't just opening doors to a new hotel – we're setting a premium new benchmark for Queensland hospitality. As we look toward 2032 and the arrival of the world's greatest sporting event, we are entering a golden era of growth. Tourism demand is surging, flight capacity is rising, and the energy in the market is palpable. It truly is blue skies for Queensland and blue skies for Brisbane. Peppers Clear Mountain is perfectly positioned to ride this wave of momentum, offering travellers a world-class experience in one of Australia's most picturesque regions."

Gemma McCourt, Chief Operating Officer for Mandala Hotels & Resorts said Peppers Clear Mountain was a deliberate investment by Mandala Hotels & Resorts into one of Queensland's most naturally compelling.

“The transformation centres on reconnection, with oneself, with others and with the surrounding landscape, delivering a retreat that feels both restorative and deeply grounded in place. From wellness and nature-led moments to shared experiences designed for meaningful time together, Peppers Clear Mountain embodies Mandala's commitment to creating destinations that enrich their regions and respond to the growing demand for purposeful, experience-driven travel," McCourt said.

The redevelopment forms part of Mandala's broader investment strategy in the City of Moreton Bay, which the company says is focused on strengthening the long-term performance of properties with strong existing foundations.
