Wine drained when man allegedly opened taps on tanks at Barossa Valley winery

The taps of four wine storage tanks were deliberately opened spilling nearly 25,000 litres of wine, South Australian police allege.

A Barossa Valley man, 57, has been arrested for property damage after the incident at a winery at Lyndoch, north-east of Adelaide.

Police alleged the man entered the winery premises in the early hours of Sunday and deliberately opened taps to drain wine valued at more than $300,000 from the four tanks.

Barossa CIB detectives said the man was granted bail and would face Elizabeth Magistrates Court at the end of next month.
