Middle Harbour Yacht Club fire causes $500,000 damage

A fire that tore through an exclusive yacht club on Sydney's lower north shore overnight has caused more than half a million dollars worth of damage.

Police and firefighters were called to the Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Lower Parriwi Road in Mosman just before 11pm on Sunday to reports that the building was well alight and smoke was billowing across parts of the lower north shore.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said early investigations suggested the fire had started inside the restaurant at the yacht club, before spreading to the ceiling and walls of the building.
