Fire rips through Sydney RSL club

Fire has ripped through an RSL club in Sydney's south causing significant damage and hampering upcoming Anzac Day centenary celebrations.

CREWS were called to the Bundeena RSL Club early on Thursday, following reports of a fire.

It's believed the blaze started in a kitchen before moving to a nearby office and spreading to the roof space. Police are investigating the fire, which has they say has caused a lot of damage to the club. President Lynn Wootten said the timing of the fire could not have been worse with the centenary celebrations of Anzac Day coming up. "I don't know what we are going to do," she told News Corp Australia. Bundeena RSL patron Paul Griffiths said the community would rally behind the club. "They'll get behind us. We'll just have a big pot of stew and some bread for Anzac Day - that's what the Diggers did," he said.
