Byron Bay ranked the most expensive destination in Australia

According to the latest TravelMag  survey, Byron Banks has been ranked the most expensive destination in Australia. Byron Bay is a beachside town located in the far-northeastern corner of the state of New South Wales, Australia. It has had the highest lodging rates in December. The rates were compared using a hotel comparison system called Kayak.

Hotels in popular tourism destinations in Australia occasionally increase their lodging prices in December. Travelers in Byron Bay have to pay around A$176 in December for the cheapest double room.

Next up on the list is Sydney, which on the holiday season is packed with people from around the world and Australia. Sydney’s New Year festivities are viewed by around a billion people worldwide online or through TV and have more than 1.6 million people at the event itself. Hotel lodgings at Sydney have an average nightly rate of A$136 and is ranked second on the list of most expensive destinations in Australia.

Hobart the most populous city of Tasmania makes the top three of the list with its cheapest double room averaging at around A$131. Melbourne and Perth averaged around A$95 and provide a good value for money as compared to others on the list. More than half a million people are expected to converge on the Melbourne’s CBD for the New years Eve fireworks and gives a good deal for those who find Sydney to be expensive.

Cairns  is the least expensive destination in Australia, according to the survey with rates as averaging at A$60. It also had the best hotel (Travellers Oasis Cairns Backpackers) in Australia based on the ratings of 120 million people.
