Sneak Peek: InterContinental Sydney Double Bay Prepares for November Opening

Mark your calendars: The lavish urban resort that was once the Ritz-Carlton Double Bay will unveil its new look next month with a new name. With a storied history (and star-studded guest book), the hotel had fallen onto hard times before the InterContinental swept in and embarked on a big renovation.

Classic features of the InterContinental Sydney Double Bay have been preserved, while bold new additions include a rooftop infinity pool with a bar and private cabanas. Another buzzed-about feature: the enormous Royal Suite equipped with a butler’s kitchen, dining room, and multiple balconies overlooking the bay.

There are 140 balconied rooms, and facilities include a 24-hour fitness center, outdoor pool, and a day spa. The restaurants will be a real attraction. Along with a dedicated gin bar, the Stockroom restaurant will focus on market-fresh Australian cuisine, and Sake will serve contemporary Japanese dishes like its sister restaurant in the Rocks district.

For meetings and events, the hotel has seven function rooms including the Grand Ballroom, which can accommodate more than 450 people seated theater-style. 

The bayside village of Double Bay is eight miles from the airport. Special celebratory opening packages are available.
