HERE’S news to make your mouth water over lunch: TripAdvisor has announced its annual Travellers’ Choice award winners for restaurants throughout Australia and across the globe.
The local favourite, with 735 reviews, was Vue de Monde, in Melbourne. TripAdvisor notes: “Positioned on the 55th floor of Melbourne’s iconic Rialto building, diners can enjoy a sweeping view across the city and beyond. Chef Shannon Bennett tries to create an unparalleled dining experience and has evolved the menu from classical European roots to a more natural menu.
“All ingredients are sourced locally and one TripAdvisor reviewer commented, “This is unlike any other restaurant, we absolutely loved every mouth-watering meal, the beautiful French champagne, the decor, the atmosphere and the personal service from the waiters and chefs. Not to mention being served by the owner.”
As for the rest of the globe, the Escape team are already plotting a visit to the No. 1 restaurant in the South Pacific, The French Cafe in Auckland, New Zealand. The French Cafe also scored fifth position in the world. According to one TripAdvisor reviewer: “Believe the hype. This place is the real deal and the culinary creations are amazing and so inventive.”
