Restaurant customers perform citizens' arrest on alleged robber

Customers and staff in a Sunnybank Japanese restaurant executed a citizens' arrest when a man allegedly tried to rob the business on Wednesday.

The man entered the Beenleigh Road restaurant about 5.30pm on Wednesday, allegedly stealing cash and assaulting a staff member.

However a group of about five witnesses detained the man before police arrived and arrested him.

A woman's arm and hand were injured during the incident and she was treated at the scene.

A 35-year-old Slacks Creek man was charged with one count of robbery with violence and is due to face Richlands Magistrates Court on Thursday.
