New Brisbane venue targets over 25s

Secrets on Ann, a new boutique bar and nightclub targeted at the over 25 market, has opened on Brisbane's Ann Street.

The venue was designed by Denis Mullins Architects and is the first hospitality venture by owner John Simpson, who told TheShout Brisbane's hospitality scene is "exploding".

“There are so many good operations around and they are deservedly doing very well. But I saw a huge gap in the market for a boutique style bar and nightclub catering to the 25 years and over age group."

“This is a part of the market that is more discerning than the 18 to 25 younger market, and that’s who we cater to.”

With a capacity for 250 people, Secrets on Ann features two main entertaining areas - a relaxed area with sofas and softer lighting and a larger main area with a bar and dance floor. There is also a VIP area. The interior design of Secrets on Ann is inspired by Los Angeles and Ibiza. Simpson has installed a Madrix intuitive lighting system that synchronises with the venue’s music.

“Our main goal is to cater for our regular Friday and Saturday crowd,” said Simpson. “But we have some fantastic mid-week evenings happening as well.”

Secrets on Ann is situated at 693 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley. Opening hours are Thursday to Saturday, 7pm till 5am.
