EVEN by celebrity chef standards, it was a particularly short season for Manu Feildel at Le Grand Cirque, the Melbourne restaurant he opened four months ago with local restaurant group Made, which includes the chef George Calombaris.

The My Kitchen Rules star will do final service August 9.

“Le Grand Cirque was a long-held dream come true for me,” Feildel said in the statement this afternoon. “I’ve loved every minute of it. I would like to thank all who have supported me in this venture, especially my mate George Calombaris and the other Made Establishment directors. Also a big thank you to my staff, family and friends who have supported my dream.”

Unfortunately for Feildel and his partners the restaurant was not very good. While some journals, notably The Age, gave Le Grand Cirque acceptable reviews, The Australian did not. It looks like punters agreed; apparently dinner bookings were not good enough to keep the restaurant open.
