Lake House judged Australia's best regional hotel by Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Guide
For Alla Wolf-Tasker and her entire team at the Lake House Daylesford, their 30th birthday celebrations ended on a even higher note last week when the hotel was awarded Australia's best regional hotel from Gourmet Traveller Australian Hotel Guide.
"It has taken more than 30 years of tireless enthusiasm and meticulous attention, but Alla and Allan Wolf-Tasker have created a remarkable property that sets the standard for regional hotels in Australia," the magazine noted.
"Take a beautiful setting, add sumptuous accommodation, a restaurant so good it's a destination dining spot, a decadent spa and the sort of calm, considerate service that makes every guest feel special, and you have Lake House."
In 1984, the Wolf-Taskers set about on what seemed like an impossible dream of establishing a retreat of fine dining in tranquil surroundings.
Thirty years later, Alla, Allan, daughter Larissa and the 'tribe of 120 very dedicated' industry professionals at Lake House have created a benchmark in a world where service and true hospitality have become an ever-diminishing commodity.
"Amongst the award attendees were many fellow hoteliers who represent the best of the best when it comes to travel experiences," Larissa said.
Ms Wolf-Tasker, who was disappointed at not being able to attend the awards due to commitments at the Good Food and Wine show in Melbourne last week, said: "I am delighted that we have won this major, very prestigious award.
"It's a very special 30th birthday present for us.
"We've been listed with Tatller magazine in UK in their top 100 hotels in the world, and this gourmet traveller award has certainly been on my personal bucket
list.
"It's a tremendous team effort by my wonderful staff that has delivered this for us. We are all still celebrating."
