Beer bar revamped as Murray's exits

Murray's Craft Brewing Company has sold its Sydney venue, formerly known as Murray's at Manly and most recently Rubber Duckie Taphouse, to new operators.

The leasehold for the 300-capacity North Steyne site has been acquired by Kevin O'Neill and Julie Sawyer, who have renamed it the Yardarm Taphouse.

They have ditched the rubber duckies and umbrellas and introduced a new fitout developed in partnership with creative reuse centre, Reverse Garbage.

"The duck is dead," Sawyer told TheShout. "We're going for the industrial Hamptons look."

Confirming the sale, Murray's national head of sales Shane Cleary told TheShout the brewer recently completed a major brewery upgrade and its focus has turned to production and supporting its retail customers.

A few of Murray's brews will however be retained on the Yardarm's 20 boutique beer taps, alongside offerings from brewers including Young Henrys, Doctor's Orders and Rocks Brewing.

Sawyer said the Yardarm will be focused on engaging with the Manly community with music, film and trivia events.

They are gradually introducing a new menu of pub classics with a Californian twist.

Yardarm Taphouse is located at 49-53 North Steyne, Manly.
