Expedia Insiders’ Select reveals world’s best hotels
Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company, today (17th July) announced its 2013 Insiders’ Select rankings, an annual list of the world’s best hotels as judged by more than one million annual guest reviews.
In its 7th year, the Expedia Insiders’ Select recognises the top-ranked hotels available in the Expedia global marketplace. Hotels that consistently deliver value, in the form of competitive pricing, pristine amenities and superior customer service, will see that commitment rewarded in their ranking.
The 2013 list features 650 hotels from more than 150,000 properties available on Expedia. Taking the top honours is One&Only Palmilla Resort, a five-star property in San José del Cabo, Mexico followed by Arena del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort in Quepos, Costa Rico. Auckland’s Hotel DeBrett is the highest ranked Australasian hotel coming in at number 58.

8. Casa Velas Hotel Boutique & Beach Club (4.5 stars, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico)
9. The Knight Residence (5 stars, Edinburgh, Scotland)
10. The Leela Palace Bangalore (5 stars, Bengaluru, India)
The highest-ranked from Australia is Sea Temple Surfers Paradise, in at number 228. Other Australian hotels to feature include Beachfront Apartments on Trinity Beach (272) and Pullman Port Douglas Sea Temple Resort and Spa (381).
In New Zealand Beechtree Suites in Taupo (144) and Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa (211) feature on the list along with Hotel De Brett.
