Hilton has signed an agreement with Islander Hotel Trading Pty Ltd to introduce its LXR Hotels & Resorts brand to Australia, with the former Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast set to fly the flag as the collection's first local outpost.
Currently trading as The Imperial Hotel, the Main Beach property will undergo a significant transformation before relaunching under the LXR banner in early 2027.
The signing marks a milestone in Hilton's ongoing expansion across the Australian market.
Positioned along Southport Spit with direct access to the Gold Coast Broadwater, the 200-room property occupies one of Queensland's most prominent waterfront addresses, sitting adjacent to Marina Mirage and within easy reach of Sea World, Surfers Paradise Beach and Broadwater Parklands.
LXR Hotels & Resorts is Hilton's independent luxury collection, positioning each property as a distinctive destination deeply rooted in local culture and character.
The Gold Coast debut will see the hotel undergo a comprehensive renovation, with the redesign expected to blend the building's existing architectural heritage with a contemporary luxury sensibility. Plans point to locally inspired art and cultural narratives, bespoke furnishings, and upgraded smart technology throughout.
Dining and wellness offerings are also set for an overhaul, with LXR's philosophy centring on guest-centric culinary experiences tied to the flavours and ingredients of each host region. The Gold Coast property's existing marina access, spa facilities, and event spaces are expected to be retained and elevated as part of the transformation.
The renovation will introduce what the brand describes as "bespoke interior styling, with high-end fabrics and curated local art," alongside "classic elegance mixed with cutting-edge design, creating a truly immersive experience."
Guests can also anticipate "personalised concierge services that cater to every whim," including curated wellness programs and exclusive cultural excursions once the property reopens.
The hotel is slated to welcome guests under its new identity in early 2027.
