Experts wax lyrical at inaugural Food and Words festival

Food writers and food lovers will have a chance to wax lyrical on the dissemination of food knowledge at the inaugural Food & Words food writers’ festival to be held during the Crave International Sydney Food Festival on Saturday 13 October at The Mint in Sydney.

Alex Herbert is one of 12 experts who
will talk at the inaugural Food and Words
festival.

This one-day event is for those who live on a diet of cookbooks, food magazines and yearn for intelligent discussion on all things related to food.

Food & Words is organised by food writer Barbara Sweeney who is the current regional editor of the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, a contributor to Good Living and food columnist with Country Style magazine.

The festival will bring 12 of Australia's most interesting food writing community together for a lively day of discussion and debate on all things to do with food and words.

These include Gay Bilson. Mungo MacCallum, John Newton, Charlotte Wood, Alex Herbert, Catherine Milne, Simon Cootes, Dee Nolan, Michele Cranston, Cathy Armstrong, Laila Ellmoos, Ewan McEoin and Belinda Jefferey.

Food & Words participants will learn about the mechanics and machinations of the Australian food writing industry, as well as the emotions of baking, the joy and passion of artisan and small quantity food production, and see the fascinating food ephemera from the State Library of NSW’s vault.
