Jamie Oliver’s offer to cook for Meghan and Harry snubbed

UK chef Jamie Oliver said he offered to cater for Harry and Meghan’s wedding last year for free but was snubbed by the Royal couple.

Speaking on UK TV show Sunday Brunch, Oliver claimed he wrote to the royal couple offering his services, but never received a response.

“I did actually write and say if they want the food sorted I would bring the best of British and American chefs together to do the catering,” he said. “I didn’t get a reply. That is a true story.”

Oliver maintained he would have done to the event for free.

“You know, I like a bit of a moment. I would have got all the American gang over and got all the British dudes … It would have been the best brigade of kitchen ever,” he said.

The Royal snub is the final insult for the former golden boy of British cuisine, who has seen a string of bad luck and financial pain over the last 18 months.

The Australian arm of Jaimie’s Italian collapsed in April last year and in the UK it has racked up $127 million worth of debt, including £2.2 million $3.95 million in wages owed to staff. In March last year, his Barbecoa steakhouse chain in the UK collapsed under $12.6 million of debt.
