Mornington Peninsula’s latest dining spot
Cape has become the big destination for foodies heading out to the Mornington Peninsula.
In fact, Cape has cemented the region’s reputation for food lovers everywhere.
The restaurant is located right on the edge of the Mornington Peninsula. In fact, it’s sitting on the region’s southernmost tip.
The ambitious 160-seat restaurant is all part of the $150 million redevelopment at the RACV's Cape Schanck resort.
Josh Pelham heads up the kitchen presenting food and wine shaped by the region’s seas and soils. He is putting together a menu that includes Mount Martha mussels, Main Ridge goat's cheese and local honey and hogget and the wine list flies the peninsula flag.
He claims the big winner with diners is the corn-fed chicken with sweet corn, charred lettuce, baby onions and jus.
There is also a modern grill menu delivering simple, tempting fare that matches Mornington Peninsula's famous wines.
The place offers Mantellina, an Italian-influenced menu including light snacks, ‘grab and go’ all-day dining, and on weekends - stone-baked pizza
And the place is already attracting a diverse crowd that includes both RACV members and destination diners.
Pelham has an impressive CV. He’s worked in all the top spots, including Scott Pickett's Estelle, George Calombaris' Press Club and The Square in London.
He has been at the Cape now for the past 18 months.
In the meantime, the rebuilding of the site is now nearing completion.
The place has been designed by architects Wood Marsh.
They have created a dining room out of granite and tan leather.
It has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the resort's golf course. There are also two private dining rooms seating 20.
There is also the Lighthouse Lounge overlooking beautiful Bass Strait. It offers a a seasonal menu, light snacks and our handpicked selection of local and premium branded beer, wine and spirits
You can also catch glimpses of the Melbourne City skyline.
