Lindeman Island opportunity

Resort operators are being offered the opportunity of a life time.

It’s the chance to run not one but three luxury resorts.

The opportunity is right there on the redeveloped Lindeman Island in Queensland’s Whitsundays.

Work on the $600 million redevelopment is expected to begin next year.

The island will have tourist drawcards including a six-star Spa Resort, a five-star Beach Resort and a five-star Tourist Villa Precinct and village centre. It will also have restaurants, bars, an eco-tourism centre, conference centre, airport, and supporting amenities.

In addition to that it will have 100 luxury villas and 136 guest suites.

This will allow scale and efficiency across a range of room products and price points.

The owner White Horse Australia is hard at work planning the redevelopment.

And it’s already looking for a group to manage the property when it opens in 2022.

Colliers International’s Karen Wales and Neil Scanlan, who are handling the search for the new operator, see the revamped island as an enormous opportunity.

“Rarely does an opportunity present for an international hotel company to become involved in a premier resort development in Australia,” Wales told realcommercial.com.au

“As the owner and developer, White Horse Australia is looking to create a truly spectacular world-class island resort, which celebrates its premier location within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage area.

“The project will deliver 100 luxury villas and 136 guest suites, thereby allowing scale and efficiency across a range of room products and price points.”

White Horse Australia plans to appoint a single operator for the three resorts.

They are allowing sufficient time for the operator to be engaged in the final phase of design and fit-out.

The Whitsunday region is one of Australia’s most popular tourist attractions.

It attracts more than one million visitors each year and is increasingly targeted by international visitors to Australia.

White Horse anticipate the redeveloped Lindeman Island resort will generate a net increase of 203,670 visitor nights per year to the region.
