OzHarvest’s gourmet restaurant to feed 1,000 vulnerable guests
The culinary talent of Australia’s best chefs will come together under one roof on Monday 19th March at OzHarvest’s CEO CookOffTM, plating up five-star dishes for some of Sydney’s most vulnerable. What should be Sydney’s most expensive restaurant – with a combined total of 50 Chef Hats – will be free for one night only, exclusive to special guests who rely on food relief throughout the year.
The flagship fundraising event turns the tables on fine dining, inviting top bosses and corporate teams to cook and serve a gourmet feast to feed more than a thousand people from charity agencies across Sydney, who receive food rescued from OzHarvest.
OzHarvest Founder and CEO, Ronni Kahn says the life-changing event has an incredible impact on everyone involved and hopes to raise $2million, providing four million meals to feed people in need. “We are incredibly lucky to work with so many talented chefs, who donate their precious time to create over fifty gourmet meals, all made with love for such important guests. The face of hunger is diverse and over 3 million people in Australia experience food insecurity each year, this event allows the business world to address a serious issue which often goes unseen,” Ronni said.
The stellar cast of 50 include chefs from leading restaurants, TV personalities and MasterChef winners, including: Matt Moran, Colin Fassnidge, Peter Gilmore, Danielle Alvarez, Josh Niland, Christine Manfield, Jacqui Challinor, Julie Goodwin and Miguel Maestre. Renowned Chef Matt Moran said “It’s a humbling experience to create a delicious dinner for so many people who often don’t know where their next meal is coming from. As chefs, we know the importance of providing nourishing food and the connections that can be made through sharing a meal, it’s what CEO CookOff is all about,” said Matt.
The support received through its national partnership with BP, which also fuels the food rescue fleet, ensures OzHarvest can bring the annual event to life and create a magical night for such special guests. BP Australia President, Andy Holmes, and his team will be cooking up a storm for the second consecutive year and have raised over $125,000 in donations since forming the partnership in 2017.
“It’s a privilege to be part of this special event again this year. The team at BP are passionate about reducing food waste and have volunteered hundreds of hours to support OzHarvest’s great work across Australia. We are proud of our partnership with OzHarvest and feeding vulnerable Australians in need,” said Andy.
