Gaming giant Aristocrat Leisure has defied analyst’s expectations with a 68.7 per cent increase in its full year profit to $398.2 million. The market had been expecting at a figure of $282 million.

Aristocrat’s gaming revenues were up 34.5 per cent to $2.128 billion.

The results come in the first full year following Aristocrat’s takeover of US group Video Gaming Technologies for $US1.3 billion in 2014. The profit was achieved on the back of an increased share in a flat North American market.

Cash flow was boosted 51 per cent higher to $680.5 million.

Aristocrat chief executive officer and managing director Jamie Odell said the group was looking to build its business, possibly with more acquisitions.

“Over the coming period, we will continue to focus on growing share and profitability by investing in compelling product portfolios targeted to priority segments in our core business,’’ Mr Odell said.

“We will also pursue opportunities in new markets and key adjacencies with the benefit of our expanding capabilities and momentum, consistent with our commitment to grow in the interests of our shareholders, customers and staff.”

Aristocrat will pay a 15 cent final dividend on December 6.
