Australian hotel gets ranked in the world’s top

South Australian resort Southern Ocean Lodge has made it into the 2016 World’s Hotel Awards

The awards, put together by US Travel + Leisuremagazine, presents the world’s best mind-blowing escapes.

They are put together from the opinions of Travel + Leisure readers from around the world.

The Southern Ocean Lodge, which was ranked fourth, has been praised for its sense of glamour, exclusivity and youthful vibe. Designed by architect Max Pritchard, the hotel opened in 2008.

The remote luxury lodge sitting on Kangaroo Island actually tied with Hawaii's Montage Kapalua Bay, Lahaina in Maui.

The two hotels had a score of 97.39 out of 100 to jointly claim the fourth spot.

Writing in traveller.com.au, Mr Chipperfield said:

"Southern Ocean Lodge wrote the book in terms of luxe wilderness in Australia, so expectations are very high. The resort does not disappoint. Despite its obvious glamour and exclusivity, the property manages to retain an unstuffy, youthful vibe – but with the correct formalities when required.”

He gave it a five out of five rating.

However the top award at number one goes to the Indonesian resort Nihiwatu.

The hotel sits on the island of Sumba and has been acclaimed for its seafood offerings.

According to traveller.com,au, the Nihiwatu is the real thing.

As traveller.com.au notes:  "What really sets Nihiwatu apart is its strong connection with Sumba, Indonesia and its people, who make up 90 per cent of the staff.,
