Casa Nostra - Our house is your house

Biagio and Sarah Biuso did not wait long to jump back into the hospitality game after returning to Brisbane from a stint in Cairns, with their newest project set to open early next month.

Taking over the space recently vacated by Mighty Mighty in the M&A Lane, Casa Nostra will introduce Brisbane diners to authentic, handmade Italian cuisine served up in a warm and welcoming environment, providing a true Italian dining experience in the heart of Fortitude Valley.

The husband and wife team have a long history of successful venues behind them, including Red Hill’s popular Biagio, Alberto’s Trattoria in Sydney’s Bondi, Zollis Trattoria in Townsville and Marina Paradiso in Cairns, where they have been for the last several years. The chef (Biagio) and front of house (Sarah) power duo have ben working in restaurants for decades and their passion for delivering top notch food and service is evident in every venue their hand touches.

“Returning to Brisbane is more of a lifestyle change for our family than anything else – we missed the hustle and bustle of Brisbane and wanted to reconnect with our friends and customers,” Sarah said of the move. “When the opportunity to open a new restaurant come up, we took it as a sign it was time to come home.”

Meaning ‘our house,’ Casa Nostra will focus on authentic Italian cuisine with a difference, offering a large range of seafood, meats, pastas, pizzas and desserts. Everything on the menu will be made in house, from the fresh, hand-made pasta to the flavoursome pizza sauces, using local, seasonal ingredients.

Some of the dishes Sarah and Biagio are most looking forward to showing off when they open their doors are grilled local scallops and sautéed prawns in a sauce of tomato, feta cheese and avocado, and handmade fettuccine served with fresh, local seafood in Biagio’s Sicilian sauce, made to a special family recipe. And of course, no home cooked Italian meal is complete without dessert, and the strawberries soaked in Italian liqueurs served with cream and ice cream will no doubt be a firm favourite.

“Every diner who comes through the doors will be treated like a guest in our home,” said Sarah. “We want to make people feel truly welcome – like our house is their house.” Casa

Nostra is now open.
