David Pynt joins judging panel of Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2016

Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2016 entries open alongside competition giving foodies the chance to win ‘golden ticket’ to exclusive industry-only experiences.

Electrolux Appetite for Excellence 2016 has launched, calling on Australia’s most talented up and coming culinary stars to enter and showcase their expertise to a judging panel studded with industry legends. A consumer competition, ‘Explore Your Appetite’ has been announced alongside applications opening, offering food lovers an opportunity to win a golden ticket to industry-only experiences and VIP dining events.

Designed to develop, support and recognise the next generation of young hospitality professionals, Electrolux Appetite for Excellence offers incredible opportunities for young chefs, waiters and restaurateurs. The awards program culminates in the crowning of the Young Chef, Young Restaurateur and Young Waiter of the Year at an exclusive ceremony in August. 

The Explore Your Appetite competition will give passionate gourmands the chance to win unparalleled access to VIP experiences, with a number of exciting prizes available. These include an Explore Your Appetite weekend in Sydney; a $500 dining experience at one of the Young Excellence restaurants, dinner with award finalists, an invitation to the awards night, a food or beverage masterclass and an Electrolux Masterpiece Collection (see editor’s notes for the full prize list).

Consumers just need to nominate their favourite restaurant chef/waiter/restaurateur to enter Electrolux Appetite for Excellence at www.appetiteforexcellence.com/explore-your-appetite/, and answer in 25 words or less their reasons for choosing the hospitality professional, for their chance to win.

Accomplished Australian chef David Pynt will be joining the high profile judging panel this year for the first time, which includes esteemed chefs Guy Grossi, Mark Best, Peter Doyle, Peter Gilmore, Nick Hildebrandt and Luke Mangan.

David is behind Burnt Ends Singapore which is currently number 30 on Asia’s 50 Best List, and Meatsmith Singapore. Hailing from Western Australia, David’s career has seen him work with industry greats including Tetsuya Wakuda (Tetsuya’s and Waku Ghin), Rene Redzepi (Noma), Victor Arguinzoniz (Asador Etxebarri), Nuno Mendes (Viajante and The Loft Project) and Fergus naming rights partner principal partners major partner Henderson (St John and St John Bread and Wine).

Electrolux Appetite for Excellence serves as a platform from which entrants can launch and shape their careers, with a number of high-profile industry names having advanced in their professions by entering the awards. ‘Being in the program gave me the confidence to push forward in my career as well as priceless industry exposure,’ said Jacob Davey, Head Chef at est restaurant.
