Pardon My French Creperie opens on Chapel Street
Due to customer demand, the original South Melbourne Market crepe stall, Pardon my French Creperie has moved and opened a permanent shop on Chapel Street in South Yarra.
Quietly opening in November 2015, Pardon My French Creperie has officially settled into its new space, with owner and head crepe-maker, John Milic making customers his highly sought-after, French-style crepes.
“We had customers happily waiting up to 40 minutes for a crepe at the South Melbourne Market, so after being there for a year we decided to give in to our customer requests and open a permanent shop. When the space on
Chapel Street became available I thought, right let’s do it.” says Milic.
All crepes are prepared using 40cm non-stick cast iron grills made in France, with no added oil in the cooking process. “We wanted to create a crepe that tasted great on its own, wasn’t too heavy or oily and could be used for sweet and savoury combinations”, says Milic.
Tasty combinations include the ‘Lamington’ with chocolate fudge, strawberry jam and desiccated coconut, and the ‘Chicken Special’ with chicken, spinach, passata, basil pesto and tasty cheese. “If you want something that isn’t on the menu just ask and we can make up a special order,” says Milic.
Milic has also been working hard to perfect their gluten-free batter recipe.
“We made over 20 recipes for the gluten-free batter, and I think it was recipe number 9 which made the cut. Customers can’t believe there’s no gluten; it tastes that good”, says Milic.
Pardon My French Creperie is located at 396 Chapel Street, Prahran (next to Lamb on Chapel), and is open everyday from 5pm till 11pm and from 9am on weekends.
