Shisha restaurant hoping to open early December

OUTDOOR dining at Daniel Shisha Restaurant has been given the all clear and owner Hassan Hamawi is hoping to open on December 5.

Owners of the Middle Eastern smoking water pipe restaurant had been waiting four weeks for outdoor dining approval from Gladstone Regional Council but they were given the all clear on Tuesday.

Mr Hassan said he agreed the outdoor chairs would not extend past the edge of the garden beds outside his restaurant.

"This is so good because now we can open," he said.

"We are organising eftpos, a gas fitter and then we order in our food.

"We're aiming for December 5 but at the latest December 8."

He said it was good news for the people of Gladstone.

He said at least one person popped their head into the restaurant every day to see when they would be opening.

The majority of readers are excited to see the restaurant open according to The Observer's online poll, with 64% of respondents saying they would visit the new enterprise while 12% would consider trying it.
