Bellbird hotel evacuated after fire breaks out in basement
A fire in the basement of a Hunter Valley hotel has forced the evacuation of the building.
Fire and Rescue NSW were called to the Bellbird hotel on Wollombi Road, south of Cessnock at 2:00am (AEDT) this morning.
They say the fire had started in a compressor in the basement and the hotel had filled with smoke.
20 guests were forced out into the street for an hour and a half while the building was venitilated and made safe.
