Chef Shaun Presland leaves Sake restaurant

High-profile chef Shaun Presland has departed the kitchen at Sake restaurant in The Rocks, with plans to open his own restaurant.

"They were six great years, but it's time to do my own thing. I'll consult for a while but I did a pop-up in London in August and it really inspired me to eventually open something of my own," the chef says.

Presland says he's open to where it will be located.

With an impressive CV that includes stints with the Nobu restaurant chain overseas, Presland says his Sydney career has been geographically narrow.

"I started at the ANA hotel, worked for Merivale, then at Sake. I've moved about four blocks in 20 years in Sydney," he says.
