Burger cafe is up for national award
POPULAR Sawtell burger cafe Wholly Cow is a finalist for Best Burger Cafe at the Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence.
Wholly Cow is up against some of the best burger joints in the country at the upcoming awards ceremony in Brisbane on October 26.
The nomination comes after Wholly Cow received an honourable mention for their excellent burgers at the State-level Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards for Excellence on Monday in Sydney.
Owner, Ricky Lee wasn't too surprised at the nomination with the team consistently striving to go above and beyond to create a mean burger to sink your teeth into.
"It was great; we're very excited about it," he said.
"We're very confident with our product, our product is very unique... everything is produced by us here."
This year is the first year a burger cafe category has been included in the awards.
Ricky said the category is very fitting for Wholly Cow as he doesn't see the burger joint as a conventional-style cafe.
"What we do here is try to encourage a different style of high quality, gourmet yet healthy burgers and a great healthy takeaway option as well, that's what we're trying to achieve," he said.
