Prepare to Sample the region's best food

PREPARE your bellies for the annual Sample Food Festival, where you can taste the region's best food all in the one place.

Festival organiser Remy Tancred said to look out for celebrity guest chefs such as Clayton Donovan, Adriano Zumbo and Luke Hines.

"At 10am is the Taste Cooking Challenge with celebrity guests ... at 10.30am Adriano Zumbo is signing his new book," she said.

The festival will kick off on Saturday at 8am at the Bangalow Showground.

Ms Tancred said it was an event for everyone to enjoy.

"We have $5 and $10 tasting plates from some of the top restaurants in the region," she said.

"It's to celebrate our local farmers, producers and chefs all in the one place."

There will also be cooking demonstrations occuring all day.

"There's a dedicated cooking schedule on site, it's run by Northern Rivers Food Group," Ms Tancred said.

"They run a full cooking stage all day and that's different to the music stage."

One of the demonstrations to look out for is Pam Brook from Brookfarm teaming up with chef Steven Snow.

"That's kind of like a producer and chef segment ... they're going to be doing macadamias and seafood at 1pm," Ms Tancred said.

In between tasting plates you can also wander the marketplace and chat with local producers and designers about their wares.

There will be more than 200 exhibitors on site for the festival.

There will also be entertainment for the kids with the Macademia Castle bringing along some baby animals to pet and feed.

"We've also got the cellar wine marquee," Ms Tancred said.

"We've got a new organic ginger beer and also the Stone and Wood beer garden."

From noon there will be live music, so grab a tasting plate or two, a beer or wine and soak in the sun on the grass.

Expect to hear from local and professional artists such as Darren Middleton from Powderfinger who will take to the stage at 3pm.

Entry costs $5 per person and children enter free.
