Toowoomba's newest cafe set to bring Canada to CBD
TOOWOOMBA residents will soon be able to indulge in maple syrup and bacon pancakes at the city's first Canadian cafe.
Sugar Maples is a cafe book store due to open later this month in Ruthven St.
The cafe is the brainchild of Canadian brothers Nathan and Daniel Bloomfield and Daniel's wife Paige.
Daniel said after months of planning they were almost ready to open.
"My brother and I were born and raised in Canada but our mum is Australian so we moved here 13 years ago," Mr Bloomfield said.
"I've always enjoyed reading and I love coffee so for me it was an obvious choice to open a coffee shop book store.
"My wife always had a dream of owning her own store so it's a combination of both our dreams," he said.
The cafe will have live music, offer free deliveries within the CBD and cater for functions.
The dessert menu consists of pumpkin, apple, blueberry and cherry pies and pecan, baked and chocolate cheesecakes.
The hand-made desserts are made from secret recipes passed down the generational line of the Bloomfield family.
Mrs Bloomfield is thrilled that her dream is becoming a reality.
"We wanted to bring a unique coffee shop to Toowoomba and also honour the Canadian heritage," Mrs Bloomfield said.
"We want people to come here and feel relaxed while enjoying great food and coffee."
