Mark Ronson blasts Perth bar over ‘fake gig’ advertising claims

USING a collection of expletives and capital letters Mark Ronson has blasted a Perth Bar on social media for falsely advertising a performance by him.

Matisse Beach Club in Scarborough was at the centre of a furious rant on Twitter from the world renowned DJ and musician on Saturday night.

The club had advertised a Winter Funk Fest from 7.30pm to 2am which promoted an exclusive DJ set by “the one & only, Mark Ronson”.

One scroll through Ronson’s Twitter page reveals that this was definitely not the case.

“FOR THIS FAKE GIG IN PERTH LAST NIGHT, U SHOULD ALL DEFINITELY GET UR MONEY BACK. HATE 2 C MY PEOPLE GET RIPPED OFF” Ronson tweeted.

In another tweet he said Perth was one of his “fave cities in the world” and that promoter had falsely advertised that he was djing in the club.

“Truly sorry if any 1 bought tix,” he said.

He backed up his tirade in a genuine show of kindness by declaring that anyone who could show a ticket from the fake gig could come to his next Perth show, for free.

While Ronson played a gig at Metro City in Northbridge on Wednesday night, he was at Byron Bay’s Splendour in the Grass festival on the night of his Matisse ‘gig’.

Matisse issued a statement on their Facebook page apologising to “those affected by the events” and blamed the mistake on a “third party booking agent”.

“We can assure you that as soon as we became aware of the situation we immediately contacted all ticket holders prior to the event via email,” the statement read.

Scarborough local Chris was one of the unlucky punters who purchased a ticket to the Winter Funk Fest gig.

He and his six friends forked out $50 per ticket as well as a further $1500 to hire one of the venue’s ‘cabanas’ which seats up to 15 people.

“I’m just really disappointed and definitely won’t be returning in the future,” he said.

“I only received an email at about 7.30pm to say that Mark Ronson wouldn’t be performing, it’s just not good enough.”

Chris said he was glad he would receive a refund he didn’t feel there was any justification for advertising a “fake gig”.

Matisse has said they would be fully investigating the manner and would take appropriate action.
