BEN Sahyoun can sell 50 of these cheeseburgers in one day or a whopping 300 in just two hours.

His Abattoir Blues Cafe attracts an influx of customers during major events at Sydney Olympic Park and it’s the humble cheeseburger that everyone seems to want a piece of.

Wedged between the milk bun is a beef patty, topped with double red cheddar, gourmet ketchup, Coney Island mustard and pickled cucumber. And yes, it comes with fries.

Included in his eight burger menu is a quinoa burger and a wasabi burger, also deemed quite popular.

Last year alone, the suburb, home to the largest sporting, cultural and leisure complex in Western Sydney, made a huge $113 million through events, attracting up to one million patrons.

“There has been a definite increase in patrons, particularly after the first day of an event when attendees discover we are here and tell their friends,” Mr Sahyoun said.

“The Rotary International Convention last June and the World Parks Congress in November had huge numbers and we were incredibly busy during that time.”

Mr Sahyoun saw the potential of the suburb and first opened his cafe doors two and half years ago.

It is located in a historic 1900s abattoir building on Dawn Fraser Avenue.

“When we first opened it was a bit overwhelming, it took me by surprise, but over time you get used to the trend and what people want,” Mr Sahyoun said.

“We have a nice space that compliments what we want to do,” he said.

Abattoir Cafe also serves breakfast and mains including their house-made slow cooked beef pie.

Business Events Sydney CEO Lyn Lewis Smith said the past 12 months had been a bumper year for Western Sydney, with eight major events enjoyed by almost 27,500 delegates, bringing increased revenue to local retail, restaurants and cafes and hotels.

“And the good news is, there is more to come with several other conferences scheduled for later this year,” Ms Smith said.

The Abattoir Blues Cafe is located at 1 Herb Elliott Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park.
