Jupiters, part of the Echo Entertainment Group also vying for a new licence in Brisbane, has revealed details of a planned 17-storey six-star hotel at the Broadbeach casino which will feature some of Australia’s most luxurious accommodation.

While some of Queensland’s biggest casino projects remain in post-election limbo, Jupiters is forging ahead with a game-changing $345 million transformation.

Aimed primarily at top-end travellers and high-rollers, some of the suites will boast three or four bedrooms and be complete with home offices, theatres and even private karaoke parlours.

Echo’s Queensland managing director Geoff Hogg said the new hotel would raise the bar for luxury accommodation in this country.

“The facilities will be opulent and fantastic to visit,” he said.

“They will be the best rooms in the country when they open. The wow factor will be both indoors and outdoors. It’s pretty special.”

Ten levels will include a four-bedroom “super suite”, boasting the finest finishings, massive balconies and bathtubs facing out to the Pacific Ocean.

Echo’s property development director Josef Seidler said the planned hotel would be “right up there” with the best offerings in Asia.

“This will be amazing for those guys,” he said.

The project would include the construction of a third bridge to the casino’s Broadbeach island while Jupiters also has scope for further hotel towers and entertainment promenades on site.

Unlike other casino developments proposed around the state, the Jupiters plan does not require any extra levels of government approval.

The casino has opened expressions of interest for the development contract, with a successful tender to be announced by mid-year.

The 80-suite hotel, which will also include several gaming levels with floor-to-ceiling windows and ocean views as well as a rooftop entertainment precinct, is expected to open by late 2017. Mr Hogg said that would be a significant milestone as the city prepares for the Commonwealth Games in April 2018.

Expressions of interest, which close on February 16, have been extended to some of Australia’s biggest developers, including Brookfield Multiplex, Grocon, Laing O’Rourke, Leighton Contractors, Probuild and Watpac.

A massive makeover of Jupiters is already underway, including a new resort pool, hotel room refurbishments and new restaurants.

Mr Hogg said the Jupiters expansion would go ahead regardless of whether Echo wins the right to build a multibillion-dollar integrated resort in Brisbane.
