ADELAIDE Oval’s showpiece restaurant, the Hill of Grace, has been sold out for the year and continues to be a groundbreaker for sporting grounds.

The silver-service restaurant, which provides fine dining both during sporting events and on non-event days, was a success during Adelaide’s Test against India despite it being rescheduled on short notice because of the death and funeral of Redbacks batsman Phillip Hughes.

Oval chief executive Andrew Daniels, who has worked and consulted with sports stadiums around the world, said the unique concept of having a five-star restaurant overlooking the oval had been one of the gems of the rebuilt Adelaide Oval.

“To my knowledge, it’s the only five-star restaurant in a major stadium that’s open during the week as well,” Daniels said.

“A lot of stadiums have terrific restaurants, obviously, but a five-star restaurant that’s overlooking the oval ... it’s absolutely beautiful.

“And it’s really been embraced.”
