Asleep in Brisbane restaurant toilet

A man was arrested and charged with six offences after falling asleep in a fast food restaurant.

The 53-year-old had purchased a quantity of drugs and locked himself in the disabled toilet of the restaurant in Brisbane’s south, where he administered the drugs early on Wednesday night.

The drugs proved too strong and he fell asleep, waking up to an empty restaurant at about 2am.

The cleaners, who had only just left the premises, were alerted by the building’s alarm system which the man set off as he rushed to escape.

When police arrived at the scene, officers found the man hiding under cardboard boxes and bags of garbage in a rear storeroom.

He was charged with burglary, stealing, fraud and entering premises and will remain in custody until he appears in court on October 2.

In May, a man fell asleep in a house after he had robbed it.
