Makenzie and Steve Shultz pay it forward after bad service with a massive tip.

Makenzie and Steve Shultz from Iowa said they were just paying it forward and had been in the position the waiter had.

A couple dining out at their local restaurant waited more than two hours for their meal.

But instead of getting angry at their waiter, they left him a $100 tip in a massive pay-it-forward gesture.

Iowa couple Makenzie and Steven Schultz were at the Kazoku Sushi restaurant in Cedar Rapids last Saturday night when they were hit by bad service.

The diners waited 20 minutes for water, 40 for an apetizer and more than an hour for their entree with their whole meal coming to $66.65.

But instead of getting angry at the flustered waiter who was serving several tables, the couple decided to do a very generous thing and leave a huge tip.

On her Facebook page, Mackenzie revealed the issue was with the restaurant being short-staffed and not with the waiter himself.

“He was running around like crazy and never acted annoyed with any table,” her post reads.

“At one point we counted he had 12 tables plus the bar. More than any one person could handle! As I sat there and watched him run back & forth and apologise for the wait, I said to Steven… Wow, this used to be us. Waiting tables.”

What the couple or the waiter didn’t expect was for the note to go viral.
