Town Green Inn eyes off award

Town Green Inn will go up against the best in New South Wales on November 25 when it contests five major categories at the finals of the 2013 Australian Hotels Association Awards for Excellence in Sydney.

The local hotel, restaurant and function venue, located in one of Port Macquarie's most enviable waterfront positions, has been in the running for a bevy of awards at the event for several years, but according to manager and licensee Chris Redmond, 2013 will be a winning year.

Being named as a finalist in five categories is a testament to the business' philosophy of providing great service and quality dining, according to Mr Redmond, and is on the back of local honours naming Town Green Inn as the best hotel and people's choice winner in the Port Macquarie Business Awards.

Going for gold: Town Green Inn staff licensee Charlie Redmond, head chef Cheryl Pavey and assistant manager Chris Walker hope to bring home a haul of medals at this year's Australian Hotel Awards.

"We have also earned two schooners in the 2013 Sydney Morning Herald's Good Pub Food Guide which is great. I think while we definitely have a great location here on Town Green, I think we can put our success down to our friendly service and staff and our consistency and quality in the meals we provide," Mr Redmond said.

With a staff of 30, Town Green Inn is contesting the Outstanding Community Service and Achievement award for its contributions to the Hastings community and sport groups; Best Casual Dining Venue; Best Steak Venue; Chef of the Year and the Country Hotel of the Year award.

For Town Green Inn chef Cheryl Pavey, fingers are crossed for her third time lucky attempt at taking out the prestigious top prize. Cheryl has been leading the hospitality team at the venue for the since 2011and has been nominated in the Chef of the Year category each year.

AHA NSW CEO Paul Nicolaou said the record number of finalists across the entire range of categories showed the strength of the industry in regional NSW.
