Neil Perry AM heads to Adelaide to cook with Jake Kellie for arkhé's fifth birthday

Two of Australia's top five steak restaurants will share a kitchen this November, as Neil Perry AM of Sydney's Margaret travels to Adelaide to cook alongside Jake Kellie, arkhé's executive chef and co-owner, for the Norwood restaurant's fifth birthday. Tickets will be available to purchase via the below link at 4pm ACDT (4:30pm AEDT) today.

On Sunday 22 November, Perry and Kellie will present a one-off collaborative lunch. Their four-course menu is built around premium produce and the open-fire cooking at the heart of both restaurants. Tickets are $350 per person and include the menu and a glass of Taittinger Prélude Grand Cru Champagne NV on arrival, with additional drinks available to purchase.

Both restaurants were named in The World's Best Steak Restaurants Australian top 30 list earlier this year. Margaret was ranked No. 1 and arkhé No. 5, the only Adelaide restaurant on the list. On the global list released in March, Margaret was named No. 2 in the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants and arkhé came in at No. 16.

Highlights from the menu include: hand-picked mud crab with salted chilli on toast; sashimi of pearl meat with white ponzu and shallot oil; Ferguson rock lobster; and a side-by-side tasting of dry-aged Blackmore sirloin and 60-day dry-aged Mayura Station Signature Series OP rib; finished with petit fours by Steven ter Horst Chocolatier.

arkhé co-owner and executive chef Jake Kellie said: "Five years ago we opened a restaurant with no gas, no electric, just wood and fire, and plenty of people thought we were mad. Having Neil in the kitchen to celebrate is a big moment for us. He's been setting the standard for Australian restaurants for as long as I've been cooking, and he's someone our whole team looks up to. Margaret and arkhé come at fire and produce from different places, and I can't wait to see what we put together."

The lunch brings together two restaurants named in The World's Best Steak Restaurants Australian top 30 list earlier this year. Margaret was ranked No. 1 and arkhé No. 5, the only Adelaide restaurant on the list. On the global list released in March, Margaret was named No. 2 in the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants and arkhé came in at No. 16.

Perry has led Australian dining for more than three decades. Rockpool, his first restaurant, held a place on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list for seven consecutive years. With business partner Trish Richards he built the Rockpool Group, which collected 150 chefs' hats over its history. In 2021 he opened Margaret in Double Bay, and it was named the Good Food Guide's Restaurant of the Year in 2024. His Italian restaurant and grill Gran Torino followed in 2025.

Neil Perry AM said: "Jake and his team are doing some of the most exciting cooking with fire in the country, and I'm looking forward to getting into that kitchen with them. Five years is a real milestone for any restaurant, and I'm thrilled to be part of the celebration."  arkhé opened on The Parade in 2021 as Adelaide's first open-flame restaurant. The kitchen runs on a three-and-a-half-tonne wood-burning oven, with no gas or electric cooking. Over five years it has become one of the country's leading fire-cooking restaurants. Through 2024 and early 2025 it also hosted arkhé & friends, a year-long series that brought 12 chefs from Australia and overseas into its kitchen, among them James Lowe, Dan Hong and Jordy Navarra.

With one sitting only, the lunch is a rare chance for Adelaide diners to taste Perry's cooking without leaving the city. Tickets will go on sale today, Thursday 8 October, at 4pm ACDT (4:30pm AEDT) via the link below.
