Stolen tractor rams through Bundoora Park Farm cafe
A council-run farm cafe in Melbourne's north has been forced to close after offenders stole a tractor and drove it through the venue's front doors in an overnight burglary.
Victoria Police say a group arrived on e-bikes at Bundoora Park Farm on Plenty Road at about 12.15am on Sunday, September 20. Police were told the offenders cut fences to get onto the property, broke into several sheds and stole garden tools before taking a tractor.
CCTV footage shows the tractor being driven straight into the cafe's front doors, smashing the glass. The group was reportedly spooked by the alarm and abandoned the tractor with its engine still running before fleeing on e-bikes, according to police.
The attraction, which is usually busy, was shut on Sunday morning. A sign on the locked entry gates read: "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will be closed today and Monday 21st September." The sign added that the venue apologised for any inconvenience and appreciated visitors' understanding.
The incident is being treated as an aggravated burglary. Police have released the CCTV vision in the hope it prompts information from the public, and are urging anyone who was driving in the area just before or after the incident to check their dashcam footage.
