The World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants has turned its spotlight on Australia ahead of its full 2026 global rankings, releasing a national top 30 that reaffirms the country's reputation as a powerhouse destination for serious carnivores.
The London-based guide, which publishes its definitive worldwide list each May, draws on assessments from a globe-trotting network of steak ambassadors across five continents.
Neil Perry's elegant Double Bay establishment, Margaret, held onto the top position on home soil, while Perry also claimed a second entry with his Italian-inspired Gran Torino, also in Double Bay, landing at number seven. Lennox Hastie's acclaimed live-fire destination Firedoor claimed the runner-up spot, with Aalia rounding out the top three.
Beyond Sydney, Brisbane's Agnes led the charge at number four, while Adelaide's Arkhé, helmed by chef Jake Kellie, secured fifth. Melbourne showed strong representation with Steer Dining Room at six and Victor Churchill at eight.
The result builds on Australia's standout performance in last year's global edition, when 17 local restaurants earned a place in the worldwide rankings and Sydney was crowned Best Steak City in the World — with Margaret finishing second globally.
