ClubsNSW Welcomes NSW Government's Workers Compensation Reforms

ClubsNSW has welcomed the passing of the NSW Government's workers compensation reforms, which will create a fairer system for clubs and their workers, and ease rising cost pressures on community clubs.

ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said the reforms would provide much-needed certainty for clubs right across the state.

"Rising workers compensation premiums have been placing increasing strain on the financial sustainability of community clubs," Ms Riant said.

"These reforms are an important step towards stabilising the system and ensuring clubs can continue to employ local staff, deliver community programs and reinvest back into the communities that they serve."

Ms Riant also commended the Labor Government's resolve to progress the landmark reforms through Parliament, and the Coalition's work in reaching an agreement to pass the reforms.

"We applaud the Government for acting to stabilise the workers compensation system to deliver a more sustainable framework for employers and workers," said Ms Riant.

"These changes strike a more appropriate balance between supporting injured workers and maintaining a workers compensation system that remains affordable for community clubs."
